Keep up to date with what's going on
in our fourth grade classroom! |
APEX Fun RunAPEX Fun Run fundraiser starts next week! More information will go home on Tuesday-after our assembly. Our WebsiteI am still working on setting up blog subscriptions so I will continue to send emails with updates on what we are doing in the classroom and a link to my blog posts. Our class website is a great resource with our daily schedule, specials schedule, lunch menu, and upcoming Timber Creek events. Families can also find Teacher Ease login information and weekly spelling lists. Students will use our website frequently to access links under the "Our Learning" tab. Also under this tab are some great resources for home practice--multiplication fact practice, online math games, and reading resources. Links will be added throughout the year as we dive into our learning targets. Social StudiesThis year, social studies and writing are integrated. We started our first social studies unit this past week--the US regions. Students are exploring all 5 regions to compare/contrast climate, agriculture/crops, landmarks, physical features, and attractions. **This is transitioning to an independent activity. Students are encouraged to research and take the time to find the correct information. It is not an easy assignment as students will get frustrated when they don't get the answer right away. This is okay. This project also teaches students that it's okay to struggle and you will not always find the answer right off the bat. Here are the intro. videos students watched in class: MathWe are well into our place value unit. Students are building on their previous knowledge of place value by extending numbers to the millions place. This week, we compared and ordered numbers. Next week, we will work on rounding numbers up to the hundred thousands place. Have a GREAT weekend!~Mrs. Lehrbaum
